Seferihisar Cittaslow
Cittaslow network, which has 134 members from 20 countries, is a network of towns born out of Slow Food movement to preventglobalisation from standardizing the texture, habitants, and lifestyles of the cities and removing their locality. It is a network joined by the towns and cities, which do not want to become one of the homogenous locations shaped by globalization but which want to take their place on the world stage by preserving their local identity and characteristics. Cittaslow is to make the cities consider their important and unique features and develop strategies to preserve these features. It is a way that the texture, colour, music, and story of
the cities are experienced in harmony by the city-dwellers and the visitors at a speed that they can enjoy. It is to share our local crafts, tastes, and arts with our children and guests in order to ensure that they are not only of interest to older people. Use of clean and renewable energy sources, which are not harmful to the environment and people, is encouraged in the cities that are the members of Cittaslow. Cittaslow concept has provided opportunity for the cities in Turkey to secure their futures and it serves as a road map for the local governments.
